UP CM Yogi Takes Big Decision on Compulsory TET, Directs Officials to Approach Supreme Court
National News: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given clear instructions to the Basic Education Department to file a review petition against the Supreme Court order of TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) applicable to serving teachers. This step has been taken by the state government with the aim of protecting the interests of teachers and giving them relief.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the teachers of the state have been a part of the education system for a long time and their contribution to the education of children is extremely important. The government has provided training and guidance to teachers from time to time so that they can study according to the changing education system and the needs of the students. In such a situation, it is not appropriate to ignore their years of experience and service.
The CM also clarified that the state government respects the qualifications and experience of teachers. He has directed the department to strongly put forward the state's side in the review petition so that serving teachers can focus on the education of children without any worry.
The Supreme Court had ordered on September 1, 2025 that it is mandatory for all teachers teaching from class one to eight to pass the TET. After this order, lakhs of serving teachers are in a dilemma. They say that disqualifying them on the basis of only one exam despite having years of service and experience can have a serious impact on their future and family's livelihood.
There are about one and a half lakh teachers in Uttar Pradesh who started their services without passing the TET. These teachers have been contributing to the education of children for a long time and have been participating in government training programs. After the Supreme Court order, they are worried about their future and are confused about whether they will be able to secure their position through the upcoming examinations.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's effort is that the state government should take strong steps in the interest of teachers. Through the review petition, the government will ensure that serving teachers get justice and their services are respected. Its purpose is that teachers should focus on the education of children without worry and continue to contribute to the education system.
This step also gives a clear message that the UP government values the experience of teachers and their long-term services and does not want to leave them in a dilemma without reason.
